procrastination

Leaving things until the last minute doesn't seem like a good idea. So why do so many of us continue to procrastinate our work? I mean< I don't find it that fun to try and cram all my work to get it in on time, but here I am, 2 days before my English exam, trying to finish my blogs.
Procrastination doesn't help in any way i don't think. Sure some people may believe they work better under pressure, but doesn't it sound better to finish early and not have to worry about it later? I think it does.
I remember in grade 8, our class had a book report due, and we had a month to do it. I finished it in the first week, and it felt awesome! I told myself "When i get into high school, im gonna be on top of things, and always get my stuff in on time, and use my time wisely!" Well Im 3 years into high school, and I dont think Ive done that yet...
And it's not just work either, my procrastination has gotten so bad, that I started putting of the things I actually want to do! And for what purpose? Is it because I'm tired all the time, I've stopped caring, and hoping I can just get through life like this? I dont understand it at all.
Basically, my advice would be not to procrastinate, because it feels so much better to have everything done to the best of your ability, and not have to worry.
Let's hope in Grade 12 I take my own advice...

  1. Totally agree that procrastination is never a positive thing, I love that you connected this back to your life. And I must say i totally agree with you I am honestly the worst for procrastinating. And although I know that I don't stop. Really well thought out post, you're my girl Mick.

  2. I was going to say that people procrastinate when they have to do things they would rather not do, but you have shown that you even put off doing the things you want to do!

I wish you luck in Grade 12 balancing out all of your work.

  3. I completely agree. i procrastinate all the time, and i am also in the same boat as you, trying to finish my blogs. I hope that everyone is able to ignore the thoughts to put it off and just get it done, as nothing is good about rushing to get things done.

  4. Here I am as well, the day before, doing my blogs. I think the reason I waited for the blogs was so I could do them about books/games/movies I really enjoyed. Don't get me wrong, I loved Kite Runner, but there's not the same drive to read it and talk about it when I'm being forced to do so.

  5. I completely agree. I have also realized how awesome it feels to just get things over with and get things done on time. It makes life so much less stressful and so much more enjoyable. Hopefully I'll be able to procrastinate less next year.

  6. I completely agree that procrastination is never a good thing. I am the same way I always seem to leave important things to the last minute which isn't a very smart choice. Just like now I am scrambling to figure out what to blog about because I have left them all till the day before the exam!

  7. I agree with your post and all of the above comments, I like how you compared the good feeling associated with getting your work done ahead of time compared to the stress procrastination causes. For me I don’t mean to procrastinate, however I rarely have a free night so when I do get the chance to relax with nothing due the next day, I tell myself I still have plenty of time to finish my projects that are due in a month. However later I find myself stressed and struggling to finish all my work. Balancing your time is definitely difficult and something I often struggle with.

  8. It is 2 AM, the night before our English exam, and I'm trying to respond to enough posts, yours included. What does that tell you?
