Same Sex Marriage

Since many people have blogged about their opinions on same sex marriage I thought it would be appropriate to share my perspective as well.
I know a lot of people that are uncomfortable in the presence of homosexual people, and although I can understand their perspective I don’t necessarily agree with it. The way I see it is, you are in control of your own life and no one elses. So what gives people the right to tell individuals they cannot marry the person they love because they are the same gender? If an individual wants to marry someone it should not matter their sexuality just like it should not matter their race, height, weight, beliefs, hair colour, interests and so on. Marriage allows individual to make their love official and take the next steps in their lives. Therefore I do not believe it is fair to restrict individuals from such a meaningful event based on their sexuality.

What is your perspective on same sex marriage?

  1. For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.(Romans 1:26-27)

This quote is from the bible stating gay marriage is a sin and immortal. I DISAGREE 100% with what the bible says. If god really loved you and all his 'people' and forgave you for your mistakes, than this wouldn't be a mistake or a sin and you wouldn't go to hell. Love is not a sin and should not even be an issue. Therefore, I support same sex marriage. Whatever makes you happy is the most important

  2. I agree with you Madison and Rachel, I support same sex marriage as they are in love and doing what makes them happy. Madison, I thought you brought up an interesting point that their sexuality should not matter just like height weight, race, etc. People are born the way they are and should have the freedom to do what makes them happy.

  3. i agree with your statement, that people should have the right to. Whether it is right or wrong is up for debate, but i agree that is not fair to restrict individuals based on their sexuality, as we are all equals and have the right to marry who we want.

  4. I also agree in supporting same sex marriage. I also believe that everyone has control of their lives so they can choose who they love whether it be the same sex or not it should not matter. I believe in equality and I believe that everyone should love who they want. As well as in the charter rights and freedoms everyone has the right to their beliefs therefore I believe that people can choose what they believe in whether it be marrying the same sex or not. As well as since everyone has their right to their religion or beliefs I believe that just because same sex marriage ia frowned upon in some religions doesnt mean that they should make negative comments towards people who do not believe in the same religion as then.
